Royton Health and Wellbeing Centre – J21 Partnership
Equity Solutions is dedicated to maximising local economic growth. To deliver this agenda, Community 1st Oldham has established a local employment charter (facilitated by J21 – Oldham and Rochdale Local Labour in Construction Initiative) with supply chain partners, which aims to maximise employment and supply chain opportunities for Oldham residents and contractors.
The partnership aims to create local employment and business opportunities on all the health and community facility developments due to be built across Oldham over the next 25 years.
Craig McCall – ‘After being out of work for 5 months, I was really worried about finding a new job and contacted around 50 firms in my job search with no luck. J21 found me a job with Atlantic Scaffolding who were working on the Royton job and also funded my health and safety training.’
Mark Hartley – ‘I was out of work for 8 months and had trouble finding work as well until J21 helped me. It was really good to be working so close to home and to work on a local project which benefits the local community.’
We have also used Groundwork in Oldham to provide construction skills training and they have provided access to local individuals seeking employment following successful training.
