Students Produce Artwork for Werneth Primary Care Centre

Thanks to a project by students of The Oldham College, Werneth Primary Care Centre now has a striking new piece of artwork on display.

The students were invited to produce a piece using the theme of ‘Community’ to be situated on a large wall in a stairwell of the building.

Working with four local primary schools – St Patrick’s RC Primary School, Coppice Primary School, Westwood Primary School and Stoneleigh Primary School – the students developed a concept called ‘My Face’. The primary school pupils each drew a self-portrait and the resulting pictures were incorporated into a collage in the shape of the Werneth ward.

The project provided the college students with important teaching experience, as well as the opportunity to work on a project where the resulting artwork is now on permanent display in a prominent public building.

NHS Oldham and Community 1st Oldham continue to support projects involving the local community and we are delighted that Werneth Primary Care Centre is benefitting from the creativity of local school pupils and college students.
