Another Successful Run4Fun
The annual family Run4Fun proved popular again this year with an excellent turnout of runners and spectators at Alexandra Park.
The event, hosted by national sports development charity StreetGames and Oldham Community Leisure, and sponsored by Community 1st Oldham, included a range of family activities and entertainment as well as the fun run, including a climbing tower and a Street Cheer demonstration.
Stuart Lockwood, chief executive of Oldham Community Leisure, said: “Oldham Community Leisure was delighted to be involved in staging the Run4Fun again. Events such as this are a great way to get people exercising together as a family. Exercising regularly is something we all know we should do more of, and we will always look to support these kinds of events that help get people motivated”.
Jane Ashworth, chief executive of StreetGames, said: “StreetGames is committed to making sport accessible to all young people, regardless of their income or social circumstances. Over 1.9 million attendances have already been generated by StreetGames projects. We are always keen to support local communities who stage activities and get young people active and Oldham’s Run4Fun is a great annual event that engages the whole family.”
Neil Charlesworth, general manager of Community 1st Oldham said: “Community 1st Oldham was proud to support this event. We are dedicated to delivering modern health and community facilities in the Oldham area which really meet the needs of the communities in which they are located, and by working with StreetGames on the Run4Fun activities we hope to deliver events that will bring communities together to have fun and get fit.”
