Crazy Outfits and Great Exercise at This Year’s Run4Fun Event

Over 300 people took part in the great fun in Alexandra Park in Oldham on Sunday 24th July where runners of all ages and abilities made the family Run 4 Fun a memorable and colourful event.

The free family event was sponsored by Community 1st Oldham and organised by national sports development charity StreetGames, Oldham Community Leisure and the Health Improvement Team from Oldham Community Health Services and was held as part of Oldham’s Olympic 2012 legacy weekend celebrations.

This year’s programme included the launch of the new ‘Inspiring Cycling Sundays’ initiative which is a free monthly cycling programme wheeled out across Oldham’s parks riding up to London 2012.

Joined by local mascot Chaddy the Owl and the local street cheer team, the event was a massive success, with over 300 people taking part to run, jog or walk or pram push the 1.5  kilometre course around the park, and even the weather managed to stay dry, ensuring everybody finished the course in high spirits.

Other activities on the day included a mobile climbing wall, bouncy castle, street cheer and our favourite feathered friend Chaddy the Owl. Children from Oldham Theatre Workshop also came along to promote their new play.
