Chadderton Wellbeing Centre will be one year old on 30th November 2010. To celebrate, the centre will be hosting an open weekend on 4th – 5th December from 10am to 4pm.
There will be lots of activities going on over the weekend including story sessions, brass bands, raffle prizes and the chance for kids to swim for a pound. There will be advice on healthy cooking by the “cook 4 change” team, beauty advice from Glamorize a local beautician, and the local police will be on hand to inform members of the public what’s going on in their community.
Since the centre opened sales for the gym membership have exceeded expectation with over 1,768 memberships sold, 1,200 teen gym visits, 23,304 class visits and 80,000 gym visits. The library has also attracted lots of interest with over 142,089 visits, 2258 new members enrolled and 71,637 books issued.
The “Henry Taylor” swimming pool has attracted just short of 37,000 visits which does not include all the other water based activities.
The Wellbeing Centre has become the hub of Chadderton town centre and is attracting new customers every day. The take up of gym memberships has been so good that Oldham Community Leisure has created a new conditioning suite with a variety of new equipment that has been specially designed for people who need a more gentle approach to keeping fit.
Community 1st Oldham is delighted with the success of the centre and wishes Oldham Community Leisure every success for the birthday celebrations.
