Chadderton Wellbeing Centre shortlisted in RICS North West Awards

Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, developed by LIFT company Community 1st Oldham on behalf of Oldham Council, has been shortlisted in the RICS North West Awards in two categories: Sustainability and Community Benefit. Known as the region’s property Oscars, the awards celebrate the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment.

The Centre, opened in November 2009, is home to a range of community facilities including a swimming pool, library, fitness suite, dance studio and cafe and incorporates a range of innovative sustainability features including a combined heat and power generating system powered by a bio-fuel manufactured from waste used cooking oil, a rainwater harvesting system which provides water for use in the centre and innovative salt water purification system for the swimming pool.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 6th May in Manchester.
